Your recorder was retired.
Your obligation was not.
NICE, Verint and Genesys on-premise systems across Southern Africa are reaching end-of-life. The recordings they hold don't disappear when the hardware does — and neither does your legal, regulatory and compliance exposure. KKS retrieves, indexes and preserves your archived calls, giving you secure access without maintaining dead infrastructure.
Regulatory obligations in South Africa require call recordings to be retained for up to 5 years after the date of the interaction — regardless of whether the system that captured them is still operational. An inaccessible archive is not a compliant archive.
Three stakeholders.
One problem to solve.
Legacy recording infrastructure creates risk across the organisation — from the data centre to the boardroom. If any of these conversations are happening in your business, the clock is already running.
You're migrating. The archive can't come with you.
You're moving your contact centre to the cloud. The legacy Verint or NICE system is being decommissioned. But six years of recordings can't simply be deleted — and they can't run on the new platform either.
The regulator will call. You need to answer.
The FIC, your central bank, or an internal audit function will request a recording. When they do, you need to produce it — not explain that the system it lived on was retired 18 months ago.
Evidence doesn't expire. Neither does liability.
Customer disputes, FAIS obligations, AML investigations — the call recording is often the only contemporaneous evidence. An inaccessible archive is no archive at all.
Compliant access. Without the legacy burden.
KKS extracts, indexes and preserves your archived call recordings — giving compliance officers, legal teams and auditors instant, secure access to any call, without maintaining the original OEM infrastructure.
Whether your recordings are stored on decommissioned hardware, obsolete backup media, or a system whose vendor no longer exists — we find a way to get them out and make them searchable.
No format is too old. No situation too complex.
Platform-agnostic extraction
We extract recordings from decommissioned NICE, Verint, Genesys and other legacy platforms — regardless of format, codec, or database schema.
Intelligent search & retrieval
Find any recording in seconds by date, agent, customer, account number or keyword. No more manual trawling through backup drives or legacy interfaces.
Secure cloud hosting
Archives are hosted on AWS with encryption at rest and in transit. Role-based access ensures only authorised personnel can retrieve recordings.
Full audit trail
Every access, search and playback is logged. Demonstrate compliance to regulators with a complete, tamper-proof audit trail — produced on demand.
From decommissioned system
to searchable archive. In four steps.
A structured engagement from initial assessment to live access — managed end to end by our team, with no requirement for the original OEM vendor to be involved.
Assessment
We assess your existing archive environment — platform, format, volume and access requirements — to scope the extraction accurately
Extraction
Recordings are extracted from the legacy system — regardless of format, codec or database structure — with metadata intact
Indexing
Every recording is indexed by date, agent, customer, account number and duration — making the entire archive instantly searchable
Secure access
Your authorised users get role-based access to the searchable archive — hosted securely on AWS with a full audit trail of every retrieval
If the recording was made on it,
we can retrieve it from it.
We work across all major legacy recording platforms and media formats — including systems that are no longer supported, vendors that no longer exist, and hardware that hasn't been manufactured in years.
NICE Systems
All legacy NICE recording environments including NiceLog, NICE Engage and decommissioned on-premise NICE infrastructure across all versions.
Verint
Legacy Verint recording environments including Witness and Verint Enterprise on-premise systems — across all database formats and media types.
Genesys on-premise
Genesys on-premise recording infrastructure being decommissioned as part of cloud migration — full extraction with metadata preserved.
Proprietary formats & codecs
Recordings stored in proprietary audio formats, non-standard codecs or encrypted containers — converted to accessible, standard formats on extraction.
Backup & tape media
Archives stored on backup drives, tape media or network storage from systems that predate current infrastructure — assessed and extracted case by case.
Other legacy recorders
Any recording platform not listed here — contact us. If the recordings were made, we will assess what is needed to retrieve them. No situation is declined without review.
What you gain.
Compliant access to your historical recordings — without the cost of keeping decommissioned infrastructure alive, and without the risk of an inaccessible archive.
Decommission with confidence
Shut down legacy infrastructure on your timeline — knowing every recording has been extracted, indexed and preserved in a secure, accessible format before the hardware goes.
Produce recordings on demand
Respond to regulatory requests, audit queries and legal discovery requirements immediately — with a searchable archive and a tamper-proof access log to support it.
Eliminate infrastructure cost
Stop paying to maintain decommissioned recording hardware solely for compliance access. Cloud-hosted archives deliver the same access at a fraction of the cost.
Close the compliance gap
Recordings that exist but can't be accessed are a compliance risk — not a compliance asset. Indexed, searchable archives close that gap and provide a defensible audit position.
No OEM dependency
We work independently of the original recording vendor — no licence renewals, no end-of-life support contracts, no reliance on a system that the manufacturer no longer supports.
Local engagement, end to end
Assessed, extracted and supported by a local team — no offshore handoffs, no language barriers, no vendor unfamiliar with South African regulatory requirements.
Common questions
How do we retrieve recordings from a decommissioned NICE or Verint system?
Recordings on legacy NICE, Verint or Genesys systems are stored in proprietary formats tied to that platform's database. KKS extracts the audio and its metadata, converts it to open standard formats, re-indexes it so it stays searchable, and loads it into a secure archive you can query without keeping the old system alive.
Can we switch off the old recording platform once the archive is migrated?
Yes — that is the point of the exercise. Once the recordings and their metadata are extracted, validated and searchable in the new archive, the legacy hardware, licences and support contracts can be retired.
How long must call recordings be retained in South Africa?
Retention depends on the regulation that applies to your sector — FICA, FAIS, the National Credit Act and POPIA each impose their own obligations, commonly five years or more from the end of the relationship. KKS maps your retention requirement before designing the archive.
Will the recordings still be admissible and auditable?
Yes. Every extracted recording keeps its original metadata — date, time, agent, campaign, customer reference — and the migration produces a full chain-of-custody audit trail, so calls can be produced for a regulator, dispute or legal matter.
What if the original recording system is already offline?
Recovery is often still possible from backups, archive tapes or detached storage volumes. KKS assesses what media survives before committing to an approach.
Don't wait for the regulator to ask.
